SPORTS NEWS

  • Northside boys basketball coach Buck Harris said his junior guard Donovon Lockett (a quick ball handler) will get more responsibility as the team prepares for a regional opener against Thomas County Central. The coach expects Lockett to build confidence, lead on the floor, and improve his play.  The Houston Home Journal
  • Houston County boys won 79-63 against Northside on Saturday in a promising Region 2-5A start; the Bears (10-5, 1-0) will host Thomas County Central on Friday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. while Northside visits Lee County on Tuesday, Jan. 6.  The Houston Home Journal
  • On Saturday, the Lady Bears lost 67-9 to Northside at home as they struggled to score, with Northside forcing turnovers & controlling the game. They will host Thomas County Central on Friday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.  The Houston Home Journal
