Saturday, the Northside Eagles led most of the Crosstown Showdown until a last-second shot by the Warner Robins Demons secured a 55-53 win when 2.2 seconds remained (Northside held a 23-10 lead before the Demons’ comeback).
Houston County’s Malik Gillespie and Josh Jackson reached the 1000-point milestone this season, with Gillespie honored on Jan.
3 and Jackson recognized before Friday’s game against Thomas County Central. Their achievement marks a rare feat in the program.
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles lost 42-34 to the Demonettes at the packed Eagles’ Nest as turnovers and missed open shots cost them the lead, and both teams will resume region play on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
