Local shelters are extending hours to help residents as wintry weather approaches.

Haven Hope House — located at 79 Green Street — will run a warming shelter with bus transport from 6:00 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday while nearby centers also adjust hours to serve those in need.

Perry local Emily Landrum and her Doberman Pinscher Phasma will compete in the 2026 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday, Feb.

3 in New York City. Landrum, an experienced show dog handler, said she is excited to compete and hopes to earn a top placement.

Gov. Kemp proposed a fourth $1 billion tax rebate to help with high living costs, offering eligible taxpayers — based on their 2024 tax liability — up to $500 if they file 2025 returns.

Rebates will be distributed electronically around June.
