- ➤ Local shelters are extending hours to help residents as wintry weather approaches. Haven Hope House — located at 79 Green Street — will run a warming shelter with bus transport from 6:00 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday while nearby centers also adjust hours to serve those in need. WGXA

- ➤ Perry local Emily Landrum and her Doberman Pinscher Phasma will compete in the 2026 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday, Feb. 3 in New York City. Landrum, an experienced show dog handler, said she is excited to compete and hopes to earn a top placement. The Houston Home Journal

- ➤ Gov. Kemp proposed a fourth $1 billion tax rebate to help with high living costs, offering eligible taxpayers — based on their 2024 tax liability — up to $500 if they file 2025 returns. Rebates will be distributed electronically around June. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Doctors in Warner Robins urge residents to get flu shots as a contagious super flu spreads rapidly — they note that early evaluation and vaccination can help reduce symptoms, especially in children, and vaccines are available at local clinics and pharmacies. 41NBC
