EDUCATION NEWS

  • Northside High School Blue Wind Band will perform at New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Tuesday, March 17 at 11 a.m.—the band has been rehearsing Irish folk songs and conditioning with Houston County community support for their debut national stage experience.  The Houston Home Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Health Department installed a Harm Reduction Vending Machine at its facility to offer free naloxone, testing kits and hygiene supplies (available anonymously) to cut opioid overdoses. It received nearly $500K in state funds, and more machines will soon appear in other counties amid rising fentanyl levels.  The Houston Home Journal
