- ➤ Yesterday, the Community Foundation of Central Georgia awarded over $345K in grants to 22 nonprofits at Fire Station (Fire Station #3) in Macon; the funds will support housing, health, and youth mentorship programs across 21 counties. WGXA
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ KIHOMAC’s new aerospace plant at 1978 Lightning Way is now open in Warner Robins with 75 workers and will add between 50 and 70 jobs over two years to support aircraft parts production for Robins Air Force Base. The 130,000 sqft facility is part of a $7 million deal. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Ryan Adams, a journeyman lineman at Georgia Power, began his day early to fix power lines across Central Georgia as storms threaten neighborhoods. He earned his certification after an eight-week climbing course and apprenticeship (a choice that avoided college debt) and shows the value of local trades. 13WMAZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At a Tuesday, April 7 board meeting in Perry, Houston County Board of Education recognized the Month of the Military Child with purple support and state school winners and appointed Angel Brown for Post 5 by a 4-2 vote. The board also approved a new school calendar starting Aug. 3. The Houston Home Journal
- ➤ Willie Raines led the annual Combat Bullying Tour at Byron Middle School to speak with students on bullying and kindness more than a month after a student's death. - ➤ The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows worsening drought in Middle Georgia, with areas including Warner Robins experiencing moderate to severe dryness.
