🎓 Education
The Houston County Board of Education met on April 8 in Perry to honor April as the Month of the Military Child—Col. Deedrick Reese from Robins Air Force Base and Superintendent Dr. Mark Scott signed the proclamation.
The board also announced a free summer feeding program for children from May 27 to July 19—its next meeting is set for May 13.
Houston County Schools is preparing Purple Up Day to support students in military families, a day that honors those linked to Robins Airforce Base— the district will celebrate the event with activities that recognize military service.
🏥 Health
At a public hearing, Emory stated that both hospitals will remain open for at least seven years with no money exchanged in the proposed merger with Houston Healthcare.
