- ➤ A new KidStrong center will open in May in Perry to offer weekly 45-minute science-based fitness classes that help kids ages 1 to 11 build confidence, character, and physical health. The center is located at 1904 Georgia Highway 127 (memberships start at $119/month with discounts for military, first responders, and teachers). 41NBC
- ➤ Bibb County Schools confirmed that a teacher at Rutland Middle School used racially insensitive language in a classroom lesson and began an investigation under district policies; the Macon-Bibb NAACP described the language as unacceptable and said they would monitor the investigation before taking further action. 41NBC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Perry Police Department held a firearm safety class Friday to teach seniors how to safely use their guns to protect themselves until help arrives—helping those who feel vulnerable learn proper techniques. Lieutenant Chris Sutcliff said the class was added after a women’s safety class showed many seniors needed this kind of training. 41NBC
