  • Local card shops are seeing a boost in trading card sales as collectors create a market with fast-changing prices. Junior owner Max Bradshaw of Bolingbroke Sportscards said his booth makes about $3,000 to $5,000 a month — and longtime dealer Charlie Heinisch of Georgia Sportscards and Collectibles noted that rare vintage cards are drawing new fans.  WGXA

CRIME NEWS

  • A Houston County jury convicted Jayveon Bivins of murdering 23-year-old Michaela Chaney in February 2024 at an apartment complex on Leverette Road and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 20 years—her mother said she hopes to turn her pain into purpose by educating young women about domestic violence.  13WMAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Administrator James Drinkard said on Thursday that Warner Robins will form a citizen-led code enforcement board — with quasi-judicial power to hear cases, issue subpoenas, and levy fines — to quickly combat blight and improve property upkeep after last year's blight tax increased costs; the board will work with the community development department to support local property owners.  13WMAZ
  • The City of Warner Robins renewed its cybersecurity insurance policy for $36,140 to help protect its systems from increasing digital attacks, and the plan covers up to $1 million in losses, a $10,000 deductible, and cybercrime risks — saving $4,913 compared to the previous year — as part of a broader defense strategy. City officials said they will share more details on new measures at the April 21 council meeting.  13WMAZ
