EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Houston County Schools will break ground on the new STEM and Career Academy on Friday, May 1, at 9 a.m. on Highway 41 at Crestview Church Road; the 150,000 sqft facility will feature 35 classrooms and a gym to prepare students for careers in STEM and healthcare. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Houston County Schools students with developmental disabilities will lead in High School Musical Junior as part of The Butterfly Project. The production opens today at 7 p.m. at Mossy Creek Middle School and continues Saturday at 3 p.m. with tickets available for $5 at the door. 13WMAZ

- ➤ Drought conditions remain severe across Middle Georgia with nearly one inch of April rain (about two inches below normal) as a cold front is set to bring scattered showers starting Saturday afternoon through Monday, though light totals may not break the drought. WGXA
