COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Friends of the Library are running a weekend-long book sale at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and in Macon’s Carolyn Crayton Park to raise funds for three Houston County libraries. The sale has over 90,000 items priced from $0.50 & $3.00, with half-price days on Saturday and Sunday until 3 p.m.  WGXA
  • Sparklight and Friends of Perry Animal Shelter held a pet adoption event and supply drive on Friday at 1357 Sam Nunn Blvd (donating $10 per new mobile line until month’s end) to help local animals find homes. Sparklight Mobile also offers a free unlimited line for 12 months.  WGXA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Warner Robins is set to host a week-long program to support local entrepreneurs with workshops and networking events. The initiative plans to boost small businesses by offering hands-on guidance and resources later this week — a key step in strengthening the local economy.  WPGA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Robins Air Force Base held its State of the Base on April 23, reporting a $4.48 billion economic impact and signaling new hiring efforts. The base will host the Georgia Skies Open House and Air Show, featuring the Blue Angels, from April 17 to 18, 2027 (a key event).  The Houston Home Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Robins Air Force Base’s Chemical Analysis Laboratory, staffed by 22 scientists, tests critical substances for aircraft maintenance and water safety. The lab works with domestic and international agencies to deliver rapid, high-quality results — planning to add advanced equipment to meet EPA regulations.  The Houston Home Journal
  • Warner Robins City Council transferred about ($60,000) to The Assembly on April 20 to support Haven Hope House, the local homeless shelter, and City Administrator James Drinkard said donors can now contribute directly as officials plan a dedicated non-profit channel for funds.  The Houston Home Journal

  • Central Georgia high school soccer teams advanced in the GHSA state playoffs on Saturday, April 25. ACE won 10-0 over Worth County in boys Class A DI and Lamar County won 5-0 over Coosa in girls Class A DI, with several teams moving into the second round.  13WMAZ
