- ➤ After losing its shelter in December, Paws in Middle Georgia now relies solely on foster homes, caring for 58 animals in about 35 placements as demand increases + local families like Morgan Woodard’s help keep rescued pets safe while the group receives 15 to 20 urgent requests daily. 13WMAZ
- ➤ The Macon-Bibb Fire Department presented a $4,500 check to United in Pink Tuesday at a Cherry Blossom Festival pink pancake breakfast, supporting breast cancer patients across 24 counties. The donation helped fund vital emotional, social, and financial support for local families. WGXA

- ➤ WGXA Anchor and Reporter Gloria Ruth Finney received the Spotlight Award from her alma mater, University of West Georgia, on Tuesday at the Alumni Awards Banquet. The award honors alumni who have brought credit to the school and its community. WGXA

- ➤ Houston County Schools started virtual mental health therapy sessions for middle and high school students through a partnership with Atrium Health Navicent, giving students easier access to support. The program was announced Monday, Apr. 27. WPGA

- ➤ Fire crews from Macon-Bibb deployed on Monday, Apr. 27 in Brantley County to battle a wildfire burning 22,615 acres at 32% containment, and teams from Houston, Byron and Peach counties responded on Sunday, Apr. 26 to wildfires in Clinch and Echols counties covering over 32,500 acres at 23% containment. - ➤ Operation Arresting Hunger donated 57 autism sensory kits to the Houston County Sheriff's Office on Friday, April 24 to help de-escalate calls involving children with autism — the kits include communication boards, fidget toys, headphones and other sensory aids. The Houston Home Journal
