CRIME NEWS

  • Warner Robins High School was evacuated Monday after a bomb threat was reported at 1:45 p.m., and law enforcement cleared the building after a thorough search while the Houston County School District updated parents.  WGXA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Houston County School District broke ground on its new STEM and Career Academy on May 1 at 3150 North Highway 41 to create a 113,000 sqft facility that will offer advanced labs, healthcare education, and dual enrollment courses, and it is expected to finish in August 2027.  The Houston Home Journal
  • Dawn Knapek, a Perry High chemistry teacher, is retiring after more than two decades as Teacher Appreciation Week begins. Houston County School District will honor her and 45 other educators at an annual banquet.  13WMAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Peach, Bibb and Houston counties are discussing formation of a joint development authority to boost investment and job opportunities on a 1,500-acre site off Highway 96. Bibb County votes today while local leaders aim to draft bylaws and begin recruitment for industrial prospects.  13WMAZ
