- ➤ The Sacred Heart Assembly 179 Knights of Columbus held the 40th Annual Walter A. Corley, Jr. Memorial First Responders Recognition Luncheon on Saturday, May 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church — local first responders including police, firefighters and EMS were honored for their service and sacrifice. Sponsors such as Danny Reed Construction, Chick-Fil-A of Warner Robins, and Lynn Realty Group supported the event. The Houston Home Journal

- ➤ A teen pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter after shooting a neighbor on Camellia Circle in September 2023 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison with probation—District Attorney Eric Edwards noted the case was rare due to the defendant’s age and the absence of witnesses. - ➤ The Houston County Sheriff’s Office asked the public to help identify two men who stole construction equipment worth about $121,000 from a Bonaire shop on Highway 247 on April 2 and urged anyone with details to call Cpl. - ➤ Warner Robins City Council approved a new ordinance that requires businesses to secure and mark shopping carts. The rule will take effect in 60 days to help reduce blight and safety concerns from abandoned carts. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Danny Glover, a Macon native and longtime activist, announced his run for the 2nd Congressional District seat, challenging incumbent Congressman Sanford Bishop who has served the district for 30 years. He says he will focus on issues like protecting Social Security and expanding Medicaid and will meet voters today at a town hall at Saint Peter AME church in Fort Valley from 6 p.m.—7:30 p.m. WGXA
- ➤ Tomorrow, REAL ID enforcement will require drivers without a license showing a gold or black star to present extra documents for air travel and federal facility access. Georgia residents who need a new license must provide a birth certificate, social security card, and proof of address — fees will remain the same. WGXA
- ➤ Warner Robins Fire Department reminds residents that the Georgia summer burn ban is in effect from May 1 to Sept 30 in 54 counties — a measure to reduce air pollution and fire hazards by prohibiting burning of yard and land debris. Residents can still enjoy campfires and barbecues and are advised to mulch, clip, or haul debris for disposal. WPGA
