COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Warner Robins police officers ran 1.75 miles Wednesday in a torch run to boost awareness for the Georgia Special Olympics—an event that brought cheering Special Olympic athletes and supporters together and highlighted inclusion for all. The run underscored the community’s commitment to showcasing the abilities of Special Olympic athletes.  WPGA

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire broke out Wednesday evening at a Byron mobile home on the 100 block of Belfair Drive, leaving one person dead as fire crews quickly contained the flames and officials from the Houston County Fire Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation begin a joint investigation.  WGXA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Houston County Board of Education honored retiring Superintendent Dr. Mark Scott in his final meeting, where he received a plaque and a lazy susan—etched with the board’s office—from board members and local school principals. The meeting also recognized school and sports achievements and announced key dates, including the last day of school on May 21 and the next board meeting on June 10.  The Houston Home Journal
  • The Warner Robins Camera Club will hold a Photography Composition class on Tuesday, May 20 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Ted Wright Park where club members Jason Marlow and Michael Sloop will show locals how to use the rule of thirds and leading lines to improve their photos—members will pay a $10 fee and a creativity class will follow in June.  The Houston Home Journal

  • On May 14th, a prayer event took place for Warner Robins law enforcement officers + the gathering honored National Police Week by reflecting on officers’ safety and strength.  WPGA

  • A new health center opens today at Bruce Elementary School (partnering with nonprofit healthcare provider First Choice Primary Care) to provide essential healthcare services to students and staff.  WPGA
