  • An 8-year-old boy rescued from Lake Tobesofkee last week died early Saturday morning after drowning—Coroner Leon Jones said he was one of three boys pulled from the water, with two others treated for injuries, including one initially in critical but stable condition.  WGXA

  • Central Georgia artisans gathered at Our Yarn Studio in Warner Robins for the twice-yearly outdoor market, inviting artisans from a half-hour radius to display their crafts+ connect with local buyers.  13WMAZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lake Joy Elementary teacher Jade Thomas—U.S. Marine Corps veteran and co-founder of the Military Kids Club—was named the 2026 Georgia Teacher of the Year runner-up by the Houston County School District at a banquet at Lanier Islands in Warner Robins. She was one of 10 finalists for the statewide award and is known for putting her students first.  41NBC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Warner Robins Police Department said the Red Speed cameras near Northside High School and along Greene Street in Houston County will be active starting Monday, June 9 to catch drivers going 11 mph over the limit during morning school hours—this step aims to reduce speeding and keep school zones safe.  13WMAZ
