  • On Saturday, June 7, the Houston County NAACP Youth Council will host a 'Unity in Community' 2K run and walk at The Walk at Sandy Run—an event designed to bridge gaps between youth and police while raising funds for the council. Community leaders like Superintendent Richard Rogers and Commissioner Dan Perdue will be there to show support.  The Houston Home Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Edwards Evans III, 44, of Perry was convicted Monday, June 2 for trafficking methamphetamine in Houston County and was sentenced to 30 years—12 served without parole and 18 on probation due to his prior convictions.  The Houston Home Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Shurling Library launched its Summer Reading Season Tuesday evening when kids and parents met Spider-Girl and Spider-Man—who read from 'Splatter' and led craft activities. Visitors who complete 25 reading hours will earn a Spider-Verse certificate and the library will host Tape Painting on June 5th at 3:00 p.m.  41NBC

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Public Health released food service inspection scores for Middle Georgia restaurants inspected from May 26th to May 30th—scores range from unsatisfactory to perfect. Residents in Warner Robins and neighboring counties can use the report to gauge dining safety.  41NBC
  • Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick hosted a free health initiative that promoted active lifestyles and preventive care by offering exercise, healthy food samples, and advice from local health vendors — an effort aimed at preventing chronic health issues. The program continues with a Pound Rockout Workout this Saturday at the Warner Robins Wellness Center on Maple Street.  WGXA
