- ➤ Warner Robins will host a free Fourth of July celebration at McConnell Talbert Stadium with Sheila E. set to headline the event on July 4. Event officials noted that parking and road closures will be communicated ahead of time — so residents can plan their visit. 13WMAZ
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Renaldo Smith, who shot at officers during a standoff at his Warner Robins home after evading arrest for two years, was sentenced to 60 years in the Department of Corrections for 12 counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer on June 4th—jury deliberations lasted two hours. The Houston Home Journal
- ➤ A 40-year-old man, Brian Eugene Clarke, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault after he shot 67-year-old Calvin Felder in the leg during a fight at a home in Elko in September 2023—Houston County officials said he received a 20-year sentence. WGXA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Drivers in Warner Robins must slow down beginning Monday as RedSpeed cameras at Northside High School use real-time video and license plate reading to catch speeds 11 mph over. Officers will also patrol near Huntington Middle School from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and violations carry a $75 fine without adding points on drivers’ licenses. WGXA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Warner Robins is hosting the Mayor’s Health Initiative this summer to offer free fitness classes—ranging from kickboxing to yoga—and health seminars that began with Zumba in the park on June 3. The city has partnered with local gyms and Emory Healthcare to help residents boost their well-being until August. The Houston Home Journal
