- ➤ Two Georgia men were sentenced after running an identity theft ring that targeted over a dozen Houston County victims+they stole thousands using forged IDs, checks, and stolen mail+Barfield got 20 years with 5 served and a $25,000 fine while Baez got 30 years with 10 to serve, with other prosecutions still ongoing. 13WMAZ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Obsidian Hope and the City of Warner Robins celebrated Juneteenth at the North Houston Sports Complex—vendors displayed traditional African items, food and drinks while a museum informed visitors about Houston County’s Black History in a family friendly setting. The Houston Home Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Houston County must sign up for yard debris and recycling pickup by July 1 or they will not receive the extra service while regular trash collection continues as usual. The new provider, Ryland Environmental, will start service on July 1 with a year-long contract at $8 per month for each service—homeowners must enroll separately. The Houston Home Journal
- ➤ Houston County Fire Chief Chris Stoner shared fireworks safety tips for the upcoming Fourth of July—urging residents to read instructions carefully, keep children and pets at a safe distance, and have water ready to cool used fireworks to help prevent fires. The Houston Home Journal
- ➤ The City of Warner Robins released its proposed $179.8 million budget for fiscal year 2026 after a public hearing on June 16—this plan focuses on infrastructure, public safety, and long-term financial planning and sets aside funds for capital improvements while future public hearings and a council vote are scheduled for June 30 at City Hall.
