  • On Monday, local farmers and volunteers delivered fresh produce to seniors at the Warner Robins Senior Center — bags of potatoes, beets, corn and cabbage filled a U-Haul truck as 185 seniors registered and waited in long lines.  13WMAZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Rod Green, energy services manager at Flint Energies, said that residents are experiencing more calls about rising energy bills as a heat dome pushes heat index values above 100—he advised setting thermostats to 78 degrees, using fans on auto, changing filters regularly, and keeping window coverings closed during peak sunlight hours. The National Weather Service issued heat advisories and high temperatures are expected to persist through today.  13WMAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Warner Robins city leaders are considering a $180 million budget for fiscal year 2026 that would boost public safety funding by nearly 10%—with roughly $39.6 million allocated for police and fire departments—and increase investments in public works and recreation. Council members will vote on the proposal Monday at City Hall and reassess the budget in six months to address any new needs.  13WMAZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials advised parents today to limit outdoor play during peak heat hours and make sure children stay hydrated and wear natural fabrics and sunscreen. Nurse Manager Christina Sikes warned that symptoms such as heavy sweating, vomiting, and confusion indicate heat exhaustion and reminded parents not to leave kids in cars.  41NBC
  • The Georgia Department of Public Health released food inspection scores for Middle Georgia restaurants based on inspections conducted from June 16 to June 20—scores below 70 were marked unsatisfactory and scores of 100 indicated perfect performance. Local places in Warner Robins like Rock N Roll Sushi and Smokes Bar & Grill earned high marks as part of the report—providing consumers with updated safety information.  41NBC
