COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Convoy of Hope has partnered with local churches & non-profits to host a community give-back event on Saturday; the global faith-based group provides resources and will work with local partners to support families during the event.  WPGA

CRIME NEWS

  • Centerville Police arrested 17-year-old Sage Kolbe after linking him to a vehicle with racist and lewd language spotted on July 19 near Crunch Fitness at the Galleria Mall; he faces charges for altering a license plate and driving with a suspended registration—Warner Robins officials condemned the hate and said further arrests may follow.  The Houston Home Journal
  • On July 17, law enforcement including the Perry Police Department and Houston County Sheriff’s Office seized over $5 million in illegal narcotics from nine locations in the Atlanta area and arrested 21 individuals who now face charges under Georgia’s RICO Act—a months-long investigation into a drug trafficking network.  The Houston Home Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Middle and high school students from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia's Trio Program visited Georgia Power's Operating Headquarters on Key Street in Macon to learn about technical careers at the Be Pro Be Proud Mobile Workshop. They experienced virtual reality simulations of heavy equipment, linework, and healthcare scenarios — a program that aims to spark interest in skill trades for future careers.  WGXA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At its meeting on July 21, Warner Robins City Council named Dr. Sharon Hall as finance director and welcomed 11 new firefighters during an oath ceremony. The council approved a rezoning plan for a property on Lake Joy Road and Russell Parkway with strict conditions including a 45 feet vegetative buffer — and discussed revisions to a townhome development plan on Tallulah Trail and Southland Station Drive.  The Houston Home Journal
  • Mayor LaRhonda Patrick held one-on-one conversations with citizens at City Hall on Watson Boulevard on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.—each resident received ten minutes to share concerns and ideas.  WGXA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Senior defensive end Jerron Farrow—who stepped in during game 10 last season—is preparing for the 2025 season with Warner Robins football. Head coach Shane Sams said today that Farrow will lead the team when it faces Lee County on August 16th.  13WMAZ
