Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 30th of July.
Good morning, Warner Robins.
🎓 Education
Dr. Christy Peterson, a pediatrician at Atrium Navicent Health, advised parents and children to aim for 8 to 10 hours of sleep and include protein in meals as school starts in Houston and Bibb counties; she also urged parents to check for any vision or hearing issues that could affect learning (suggesting timely tests when needed).
🏛️ Government
Robins Air Force Base finished its two-week training class for 29 military personnel who learned to set up radio and video systems for Secret Service events.
Sergeant Gregory Parks led the training (held July 14) and said the program prepares teams to support dignitaries during major security events.
Warner Robins Mayor LaRhonda Patrick expanded city-owned land on Commercial Circle from less than 1 acre to over 17 acres and is running for a second term to continue downtown redevelopment and improve staffing.
She said rapid growth with fewer staff has been a challenge — a concern she is addressing — as her recent appointment as Director at Large by the Georgia Municipal Association highlights her local leadership.
