CRIME NEWS

  • Warner Robins Police Department is searching for 28-year-old Tyler Ard, who has been missing since June and is believed to be in the Atlanta area, while his family urges anyone with information to call Detective Elizabeth Smith at 478-302-5380.  WGXA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Houston County Board of Commissioners tentatively adopted a 2025 millage rate that will raise property taxes by 11.18 percent—from 7.600 to 8.45 mills—to fund employee raises, law enforcement, and fire safety improvements. Public hearings were held on Aug. 19 and will be held on Aug. 26—residents are encouraged to share their opinions.  WGXA
  • All current candidates for governor will attend a meet and greet at First Baptist Church in Warner Robins tonight—organized by the Houston County NAACP to let voters speak one-on-one with candidates after they share their platforms.  WPGA

HEALTH NEWS

  • On August 16, police chief Wayne Fisher and sheriff Matt Moulton spoke at Southside Baptist Church to warn the community about rising opioid use and vaping dangers. Fisher said that fentanyl seizures have grown to levels that could kill millions — Moulton explained that a 15,000 puff vape can deliver high doses of nicotine and THC that greatly risk youth health.  The Houston Home Journal
