- ➤ A Warner Robins couple paid a $50 bill at Denny’s that led to over $400 in unauthorized charges on two cards. They say the staff admitted a payment error & the bank warned that the dispute process may take 30 days. 13WMAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City Administrator James Drinkard said that 22 roads in Warner Robins will be resurfaced starting in September with contractor CW Matthews selecting the repair order, and nine additional roads will be restriped and remarked. Wynn Place will be among the first to be repaired—its new pavement is needed to begin testing a neighborhood traffic program that residents have long awaited. The Houston Home Journal
- ➤ Several candidates have qualified for Houston County municipal elections as Perry, Warner Robins and Centerville prepare to choose mayors and city council members. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4 and the lists include both incumbents and challengers. The Houston Home Journal
- ➤ On August 26, Houston County Commissioners unanimously approved a new millage rate of 8.45, the lowest in 40 years, which will fund employee raises, hire six new sheriff’s deputies, add a receptionist, and cover the FY 26 budget—while the fire millage increased to 1.677 to fund nine full-time firefighters for 24/7 coverage. Chairman Dan Perdue explained that the rate uses fair market value and state guidelines to protect homesteaded properties. The Houston Home Journal
