CRIME NEWS

  • Officers arrived at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday at Bradford Place Apartments after neighbors reported gunfire and found three victims killed in a murder-suicide including siblings 22-year-old Shyianna Lee and 24-year-old Jermaine Lee Jr.—both parents of young children—and a partner of Shyianna who later died at the hospital.  13WMAZ
  • A reckless multi-county car chase on I-75 ended in Bibb County when troopers forced a speeding Chevrolet Blazer to stop and arrested two people who tried to flee on foot—narcotics and money were found during a search of the vehicle.  WGXA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At the Sept. 2 meeting, Houston County Commissioners heard from Col. Jefferey Peske on Air Force contracting at Robins as he detailed managing billions in contracts—Commissioner Shane Gottwalls thanked him for his service. The meeting also reviewed the FY25 public library report, where Judith Malone will take over as Library Director on Oct. 1 after Sarah Paulk retires and the library highlighted a $45,000 Friends of the Library sale along with a Vacation Reading Program that engaged 2,728 participants.  The Houston Home Journal

  • After Warner Robins secured a 54-44 win on Freedom Field, Houston County and Warner Robins—only undefeated county teams—will meet again today at McConnell-Talbert Stadium to settle their rivalry.
