- ➤ The US Drought Monitor now shows that drought has spread across most of Middle Georgia today as very little rain and above-average temperatures dry out the soil—rainfall is forecast for next week but it is expected to be minimal, keeping the conditions unchanged. WGXA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Warner Robins held a mayoral debate where Mayor LaRhonda Patrick and challenger Fabian Velazquez discussed the city budget, crime, and North Side revitalization — Patrick defended her record and Velazquez pledged new projects — as voters prepare for the Nov. 4 election. 13WMAZ
- ➤ On Sept. 16, Houston County Commissioners approved six new sheriff’s office positions, nine additional firefighters, and a proposed alcohol license for a Bonaire store—aiming to boost county safety. After the meeting, they held a town hall on a potential 12-acre Echeconnee Creek Park near the Houston/Bibb line that may get funding from the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program.
