- ➤ Middle Georgia State University held its eighth Day of Service on Sept. 26—volunteers wrote cards for seniors and helped build houses in Warner Robins and on other campuses. The event grew as athletic teams joined the work, showing the school’s commitment to the community. The Houston Home Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Robins Air Force Base braces for a potential government shutdown that may cause delayed pay and furloughs for over 22,000 workers & put a $4.2B economic engine at risk. Congress must act soon to prevent these effects. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Warner Robins city leaders have paused a rezoning proposal for a 24-acre parcel near Corder and Houston Lake roads to allow more than 200 new homes until a required traffic study is completed. Neighbors worry that rising congestion and loss of community character could soon affect daily life. 13WMAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Emory Healthcare—Warner Robins unveiled a new heart, vascular and transplant clinic inside the Roy H. 'Sonny' Watson Pavilion on Sept. 25 that will open mid-October. The clinic will have one registered nurse, two Certified Medical Assistant Coordinators and one physician and will treat about 12 to 15 patients daily—bringing specialized care closer to home.
