- ➤ Over 600,000 visitors attended the 36th Georgia National Fair in Perry during its 10-day run, marking a 12.3% increase from last year. The fair offered rides, games, concerts + food that attracted many families from the area. WGXA
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Record-breaking crowds and high agribusiness sales marked the Georgia National Fair in Perry, where 612,706 visitors attended from Oct. 2 to Oct. 12 — free military admission and good weather boosted turnout — and $185,000 was generated at the Georgia Grown store. Marketing director Wyatt said she hopes to break the sales record with future totals reaching $200,000. WGXA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A public service sorority honored Warner Robins teacher Malisha Jones on Oct. 14 with a Thank-A-Teacher award, and she said the $1,000 donation will fund STEM projects in her classroom. WPGA
- ➤ Houston County teachers now have a new advisory committee—meeting four times a year to share classroom needs with district leaders. The group, which includes each school’s Teacher of the Year, will reconvene in February. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods selected 15 middle Georgia students to join his 2025-2026 Student Advisory Council after they submitted essays on teacher recruitment and classroom experiences—these students from several local counties will help shape state education policies.
