COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Warner Robins Police Department will host its annual Glow Run at Freedom Field on Saturday, Oct. 18 with pre-race activities starting at 6 p.m. and the 5K race beginning at 8 p.m. (all proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics of Georgia) (with more than 600 runners expected to join).  The Houston Home Journal
  • Earlier this evening, Warner Robins kicked off spooky season with its 3rd Annual Food Truck Round Up that brought over 20 food trucks and trunk or treating along Mulberry and Young Streets from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.—families enjoyed Halloween fun in the Zombie Zone, Gellyball Arena, and live DJ music. Battle Ink Tattoo Parlor joined the celebration and will host its own gathering on October 25th at 11 a.m. on Russell Parkway.  WGXA
  • Local firefighters in Warner Robins are holding a winter clothing drive for a homeless shelter—inviting community members to donate items to help prepare for colder months.  WPGA

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Georgia National Fair ended with 612,706 visitors as families from across the state enjoyed attractions and record-breaking fun—organizers reported the fair featured popular events like fair food and livestock shows and plan next year's fair to run from Oct. 8th, 2026 to Oct. 18th, 2026. The event marked another successful year for the fair's celebration of local tradition.  The Houston Home Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Central Georgia shoppers are feeling the pinch as grocery prices keep rising—ground beef, eggs, and coffee have become much more expensive owing to tariffs and inflation; economist Greg George said many families may switch to generic brands or cheaper meats and might see relief if the Supreme Court rules against the tariffs later this year.  13WMAZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Houston County school leaders will ask voters to extend the E-SPLOST—a one-cent sales tax that funds school improvements—for five years or until $275 million is raised. Early voting runs through Oct. 31 and Election Day is Nov. 4.  13WMAZ
  • Educators in Middle Georgia say the next state superintendent must focus on basic skills like reading, writing, and math and work to reduce chronic absenteeism—while also making sure special needs students get help amid federal changes. The election is set for November 2026.  WPGA
  • At the Middle Georgia Regional Library, technology librarian Talia Campione led a beginner AI class today that taught safe use of tools like ChatGPT and explained the risks of using AI for video production. The workshop, held regularly on Tuesdays at 1 pm and Thursdays at 6 pm, comes as nearby data centers raise local concerns — prompting residents to learn responsible AI practices.  WGXA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Active-duty military members in Warner Robins received full pay on Wednesday using over $6 million from leftover funds—while the federal shutdown continued after senators failed to secure 60 votes for a funding bill on Thursday. Local groups have organized support by compiling resource lists and collecting donations to aid federal workers and families facing financial uncertainty—efforts that are ongoing.  13WMAZ
