- ➤ Middle Georgia State University set a record with 8,828 students enrolled for the fall as its focus on affordability, accessibility—and expanded academic programs drove new undergraduate and transfer enrollment gains. 41NBC
- ➤ Houston County students scored an average of 1,071 on the SAT, beating the national average by 75 points and the state average by 42 points for the ninth straight year. School leaders said daily classroom effort and ongoing test prep help these high scores — a sign of strong teacher and student work — as five high schools plan additional SAT preparation. 41NBC

- ➤ Mayoral candidate Fabian Velazquez said he was worried that the new Haven Hope House shelter on Green Street was too close to downtown and might hurt local business — he warned that its location could lead to unsanitary conditions.
