Volunteer firefighter Chad Wombles was attacked with a samurai sword at a Wrightsville gas station on November 6th—his right hand and left thumb were severed before a police officer friend helped secure the scene; an on-scene officer shot and killed the suspect and a local fundraiser has raised over $50,000 to support his recovery.

The Georgia High School Association released proposed classifications for the 2026-2028 school period and schools will have until 12 p.m. on November 9 to appeal these decisions before the November 10 meeting.
Houston County, Northside, and Veterans will move up to 6A—while Perry and Warner Robins remain in 5A amid enrollment changes that may affect regional alignments.
🏛️ Government
Macon-Bibb County is giving $150,000 to 11 food banks to fill empty shelves during the government shutdown.
The funds will let food banks including Mother's Nest boost support up to seven times their usual aid for families in need — the money will restock food and essential supplies.
