EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mercer University broke ground Friday on an 80 million dollar medical school building on Riverside Drive designed to replace its 1982 facility — it will expand space for training rural doctors. The 250000 square foot project includes a three story wing and a five story wing along with a 600 space parking deck and is expected to open in fall 2028 — officials say the new facility will attract more students. 13WMAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Middle Georgia Community Action Agency paused programs serving nearly 2,000 families in Warner Robins because a federal shutdown froze its $607,000 annual funding—agency officials warn that if funds are not restored by Dec. 1, staff layoffs and program closures may follow—while a $250,000 city grant helps bridge the gap. 13WMAZ
- ➤ Mayor LaRhonda Patrick celebrated her re-election victory Tuesday night at La’Vino Wine Bar—she won more than 70% of the vote—when over 100 community members surprised her with flowers and live music. She thanked supporters as she prepares to lead Warner Robins for the next four years. WGXA
