  • The Houston County Board of Education met on April 8 in Perry to honor April as the Month of the Military Child—Col. Deedrick Reese from Robins Air Force Base and Superintendent Dr. Mark Scott signed the proclamation. The board also announced a free summer feeding program for children from May 27 to July 19—its next meeting is set for May 13.  The Houston Home Journal
  • Houston County Schools is preparing Purple Up Day to support students in military families, a day that honors those linked to Robins Airforce Base— the district will celebrate the event with activities that recognize military service.  13WMAZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • At a public hearing, Emory stated that both hospitals will remain open for at least seven years with no money exchanged in the proposed merger with Houston Healthcare.  13WMAZ
