Local card shops are seeing a boost in trading card sales as collectors create a market with fast-changing prices.

Junior owner Max Bradshaw of Bolingbroke Sportscards said his booth makes about $3,000 to $5,000 a month — and longtime dealer Charlie Heinisch of Georgia Sportscards and Collectibles noted that rare vintage cards are drawing new fans.

A Houston County jury convicted Jayveon Bivins of murdering 23-year-old Michaela Chaney in February 2024 at an apartment complex on Leverette Road and sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 20 years—her mother said she hopes to turn her pain into purpose by educating young women about domestic violence.
