➤ The Houston County Commissioners praised the UGA Extension Office for awards in the EFNEP and 4-H programs and approved the FY26 budget with a General Fund revenue set at $83,768,500. They also approved an agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for roundabout lighting and made several board appointments with the next meeting set for July 8 at 9 a.m. at the courthouse. ➤ Houston County football star safety Jordan Smith is using summer practices to prepare his team for the fall season. He is committed to playing for Georgia after graduation and will lead his team in the preseason matchup against Crisp County on August 1 and in the Corky Kell Classic against Brookwood on August 16. 13WMAZ
